  • 2018 - Price range: €0,0002832 - €0,03601
    VeChainThor launched its mainnet on June 30. Within this network, VTHO is the token used to pay transaction fees. In August, the price climbed to about €0,036, but then it dropped quickly. The broad sell-off in the crypto market in November brought further losses. VTHO ended the year around €0,000358, about 99% lower than the peak.
  • 2019 - Price range: €0,0002097 - €0,001461
    VTHO started the year around €0,000359 and fell to about €0,000210 in February. After that, the price recovered strongly and rose to around €0,00146 in July. A pullback followed later, and by the end of the year VTHO was around €0,000467. In April, VeChain ToolChain launched, a platform that helps companies build blockchain applications on VeChainThor. In June, Walmart China rolled out a food traceability system on the same network.

In November, the first phase of the Proof of Authority 2.0 upgrade went live; it added a verifiable random element to how the network reaches consensus.

In February, VeChain launched VeWorld, its official crypto wallet, and later that year it made VORJ available, a platform that lets users issue digital assets on VeChainThor without programming knowledge.

    VTHO started January around €0,002219 and rose quickly in February to about €0,006528. After that, the price gradually declined and reached about €0,00123 in November. A recovery followed in December; VTHO ended the year around €0,002452. The U.S. regulator SEC approved trading in several spot bitcoin ETFs in January, an important step for regulated access to bitcoin. In June, VeChain launched VeBetterDAO on mainnet, a platform with rewards and governance for sustainability-focused applications.

Meanwhile, two VeChainThor upgrades changed how VTHO works: Galactica introduced a dynamic transaction fee system in July, and Hayabusa tied VTHO issuance from December to actively staked and delegated VET, instead of to VET balances that were only held.
