    Verge launched in 2014 under the name DogeCoinDark. The first prices in the period moved sharply: after a peak around €0,00001346, the price fell in December to about €0,00000198. The year ended around €0,00000265, about 80.3% lower than at the peak.
  • 2015 - Price range: €0,00000190 - €0,00003831
    XVG started the year around €0,00000265. After a dip in early February, a quick rise followed: in February, the price briefly climbed to about €0,00003831. After that, it pulled back and moved with big swings for the rest of the year. New York introduced the BitLicense in June, an early step toward stricter rules for crypto exchanges and other crypto companies. XVG ended the year around €0,00001190, 349.1% higher than at the start.
  • 2016 - Price range: €0,00000707 - €0,00047501
    In 2016, DogeCoinDark was renamed Verge Currency. The price started around €0,00001199 and rose exceptionally fast in the spring: in April, it reached about €0,000475. That was followed by a long decline, to around €0,00001835 at the end of the year. In August, a hack at crypto exchange Bitfinex also exposed the vulnerability of centralized storage; the attack was not aimed at Verge.
  • 2017 - Price range: €0,00000839 - €0,2535
    XVG started the year around €0,00001835 and initially moved at very low levels. In May and June, the price rose quickly, after which the rally accelerated later in December to about €0,2535. John McAfee promoted XVG on Twitter in December, during a period of strong price gains. The price then pulled back and ended the year around €0,1855, about 26.8% lower than at the peak. That year, CME also expanded access to bitcoin with regulated futures.
  • 2018 - Price range: €0,00450 - €0,20097
    After a peak around €0,20097 in January, XVG fell for almost the entire year. In April and May, Verge faced two attacks that exploited vulnerabilities in the mining protocol. By manipulating block timestamps, attackers could produce new blocks faster than normal and receive extra XVG mining rewards. The price fell to about €0,00450 in November and ended the year around €0,00597, about 96.8% lower than at the start. In January, the Wraith wallet was also released, including stealth addresses in the graphical interface.
  • 2019 - Price range: €0,00271 - €0,01097
    XVG started the year around €0,00596 and rose in the spring to about €0,01097. In the months that followed, the price gradually declined, with a low around €0,00271 in October. That year, Verge released Core v6.0.0, with adjusted rules for future mining rewards and additional halvings. XVG then recovered slightly and ended around €0,00308, about 48.4% lower than at the start of the year.

    XVG started the year around €0,00308. In March, the price fell to about €0,00137 during the broad sell-off in financial markets. After that, it recovered gradually and rose to around €0,00882 in November before pulling back. In March, the Federal Reserve sharply cut interest rates and announced large purchases of government and mortgage bonds, changing financial conditions during the pandemic. XVG ended the year around €0,00614, about 99.4% higher than at the start.

    XVG started the year around €0,00614 and rose sharply in the first few months. In May, the price climbed to about €0,07026, after which a steep drop followed. In February, a reorganization of more than 560,000 blocks was also discovered. Verge then released an update to recognize the original blockchain history again as the valid chain and reject the alternative chain. XVG ended the year around €0,01499, still 144.4% higher than at the start, but 78.7% lower than at the May peak.

    XVG started the year around €0,01496 and declined throughout 2022. In May, Terra and the TerraUSD stablecoin collapsed, causing major losses and turmoil in the crypto market. In November, the fall of FTX raised new concerns about the safety of funds on trading platforms. That month, XVG fell to about €0,00204 and ended the year around €0,00248, about 83.4% lower than at the start.
  • 2023 - Price range: €0,00129 - €0,00895
    XVG started the year around €0,00248 and moved fairly flat in the first few months. In June, the price fell to about €0,00129, after which a quick rise followed to around €0,00895 in early July. Around the same time, Binance announced a perpetual contract for XVG, making leveraged trading possible. After that, the price pulled back and ended the year around €0,00369, 48.6% higher than at the start. In June, the U.S. regulator SEC had also filed a lawsuit against Binance.
  • 2024 - Price range: €0,00236 - €0,02020
    XVG started the year around €0,00369 and mostly moved around a few thousandths of a euro in the first months. In August, the price fell to about €0,00236. After that came a strong rebound: in early December, XVG rose to around €0,02020 before the price dropped back to €0,01267 at the end of the year. The rally took place in a year when the U.S. approved spot bitcoin ETFs and the European MiCA rules largely took effect from December 30. XVG ended the year 243.3% higher than at the start.
  • 2025 - Price range: €0,00287 - €0,01615
    XVG started the year around €0,01267 and rose further in early January to about €0,01615. After that, the price mostly declined, with a low around €0,00287 in October. That low came during a broad sell-off in the crypto market after looming U.S. tariff hikes against China; a lot of leveraged trading was forced to unwind. XVG then recovered to about €0,00490 at the end of the year, but still closed 61.3% lower than at the start.
  • Q1 2026 - Price range: €0,00364 - €0,007143
    XVG started January around €0,00490 and rose that month to about €0,00714. After that, the price pulled back and moved around €0,004 to €0,005 in March. During the same period, XVG users got .Verge wallet domains, which let them send payments to supported domain names instead of long wallet addresses. The SEC and CFTC also published a new interpretive framework for crypto assets. XVG ended the quarter around €0,00389, about 20.6% lower than at the start.

    XVG rose in early April to about €0,00440, but then mostly kept falling. In June, the price dropped below €0,002 and ended the quarter around €0,00183, about 53% lower than at the start. In May, Verge introduced a shared standard for 18-word recovery phrases in its crypto wallet. The project also started beta testing encrypted messages, a test phase for communication between users that goes beyond payments.

    XVG fell in July to about €0,00162. In August and September, the price gradually recovered and rose to around €0,00329 by the end of September. During this period, Verge added encrypted messages to Core v26.7. The messages run through the network and require a small payment to help prevent spam. In August, Verge also announced the launch of Verge Runes, a system that should let users create named tokens with a self-chosen amount on the blockchain. XVG ended the quarter around €0,00289, 57.6% higher than at the start.
