  • 2019 - Price range: €0.0719 - €0.2286
    At the end of October, STX was around €0.21. In early November, the price briefly rose to about €0.23, but then gradually declined. In December, STX fell to around €0.072 and then recovered to about €0.085 by the end of the year.
  • 2020 - Price range: €0.0402 - €0.365
    STX started the year around €0.085 and rose sharply in February. In March, the price dropped to about €0.040 during the financial shock caused by COVID-19. After that, a long recovery followed, with a strong rebound starting in August. The price reached about €0.365 at the end of December and closed the year around €0.324, about 282.7% higher than at the start.
  • 2021 - Price range: €0.3172 - €3.175
    STX started the year around €0.32 and rose sharply in February and March. In April, it made a sharp jump, after which the price fell heavily in May and June. In the fall, STX picked up again and the price reached about €3.17 in November. Stacks 2.0 went live in January with Clarity smart contracts and Proof of Transfer, making the updated Stacks network features available. STX closed the year around €1.91, about 487.7% higher than at the start.
  • 2022 - Price range: €0.1925 - €2.326
    STX started the year around €1.91 and reached about €2.33 in January. After that, the price fell for almost the entire year, with extra turbulence during the collapse of Terra and UST in May and the fall of FTX in November. In December, STX was around €0.20. The price closed the year about 89.7% lower than at the start.
  • 2023 - Price range: €0.1941 - €1.79
    STX started the year around €0.20 and rose quickly in February and March, with interim peaks above €0.90. In the spring, the price fell back to around €0.54, after which it picked up again later in the year. Stacks 2.1 was activated in March and improved, among other things, how Stacking works and the options for working with Bitcoin. In December, STX rose to about €1.79 and closed the year around €1.46, about 647.5% higher than at the start.
  • 2024 - Price range: €0.9635 - €3.563
    STX rose sharply in February and March and reached about €3.56 at the end of March. After that, the price fell, with temporary rebounds, to around €0.96 in August. In the fall, STX recovered and in December the price rose again to above €2, but the year ended around €1.48. The U.S. spot bitcoin ETFs were approved for trading in January. Later in the year, Stacks activated the Nakamoto upgrade, which introduced faster blocks and Bitcoin-linked transaction finality. The price closed almost unchanged from the start of the year.
  • 2025 - Price range: €0.1806 - €1.8045
    STX rose to about €1.80 in early January, but then mostly declined during the year. After a recovery toward €0.93 in May, the price fell further and reached about €0.18 in October. In April, sBTC withdrawals became possible, allowing holders to redeem their sBTC for BTC. In July, SIP-031 was approved and carried out: the plan provided for 500 million extra STX over five years for the Stacks Endowment. STX ended the year around €0.21, about 86% lower than at the start.
  • Q1 2026 - Price range: €0.1835 - €0.354
    STX rose in early January from about €0.21 to above €0.33. After that, the price gradually pulled back, and in February and March it mostly moved around €0.20 to €0.23. In mid-March, the price briefly rose to about €0.35, but by the end of the quarter it was back around €0.19. In March, the community voted in favor of proposals for Clarity 5, passkey support, and changes to network data storage. The vote was not yet an activation on mainnet.
  • Q2 2026 - Price range: €0.1096 - €0.2604
    STX started April around €0.19 and mostly moved sideways that month. In early May, the price briefly rose to about €0.26, but then pulled back. In June, STX fell further and reached about €0.11 before recovering to around €0.14 by the end of the quarter. During the same period, Stacks published a draft for Bitcoin Staking and further developed the proposal for PoX-5. The new way to use Bitcoin and STX together was therefore not yet active on mainnet.
  • Q3 2026 - Price range: €0.1016 - €0.3383
    STX started July around €0.14 and kept falling in the weeks that followed. In August, the price reached about €0.10, after which a strong recovery followed. By the end of September, STX was around €0.33, more than 132.3% higher than at the start of the quarter. In July, the PoX-5 upgrade was activated, laying the groundwork for Bitcoin Staking. On September 10, the first live Bitcoin Staking bond launched, initially for pre-approved participants.
  • Q4 2026 - Price range: €0.3118 - €0.3671
    In early October, STX moved between about €0.31 and €0.37. After a brief rise at the start of the period, the price eased a bit and ended on October 9 around €0.34, about 3.5% higher than at the start of the quarter.

Upcoming Technical Updates


  • PoX-6 - Expected in 2027 - Stacks Labs wants to propose and implement PoX-6 in 2027. The upgrade is meant to replace the current access with approved participants with open auctions, so users can lock up Bitcoin themselves and combine it with STX. Network rules should, among other things, determine how much capacity is available and how the BTC and STX combination works. Activation still depends on a separate proposal and a vote; a fixed date and the final auction rules are not yet known.
