  • 2022 - Price range: €0,03272 - €0,3057
    The price briefly climbed in April to around €0,3057, after which a long decline followed to a low of around €0,03272 in November. The price ended the year around €0,03557, about 88.4% below the April peak. This sharp drop happened against a crypto market that was hit hard in 2022 by crises like the collapse of Terra/UST in May and later the fall of FTX; earlier that year, Astar also completed a strategic funding round of $22M to support development and growth.
  • 2023 - Price range: €0,0316 - €0,1399
    From about €0,03595 in January, ASTR first fell back to around €0,0316 in June, after which the price recovered strongly in the second half of the year to a peak around €0,1399 at the end of December. The token ended 2023 at about €0,1154, an increase of about 221% compared with the January level. In 2023, dApp Staking drew a lot of attention in the community, and the broader Polkadot parachain ecosystem provided sector context for demand and liquidity.
  • 2024 - Price range: €0,04216 - €0,196
    ASTR started the year around €0,1138 and rose to about €0,196 in early February. After that, the price dropped back and reached a low around €0,04216 in August. By the end of December, ASTR was around €0,06178, about 45.7% lower than at the start of the year. In 2024, Astar introduced Tokenomics 2.0, which adjusted things like the issuance of new tokens, staking rewards, and dApp Staking.
  • 2025 - Price range: €0,00764 - €0,0665
    ASTR opened 2025 around €0,06178 but fell sharply during the year and reached a low around €0,00764 in October. By the end of December, the price was around €0,008356, about 86.5% lower than at the start of the year. In July, Neemo Finance, a protocol within the Astar ecosystem, was hit by an exploit. Astar then temporarily put dApp Staking into maintenance mode and used governance to secure the affected ASTR. During the same period, planned ASTR burns were also carried out.
  • Q1 2026 - Price range: €0,005493 - €0,011622
    The quarter started around €0,008669. At the end of January, ASTR rose to about €0,011622, after which the price fell back in early February to about €0,005493. By the end of March, ASTR was around €0,006287, about 27.5% lower than at the start of the quarter. From the February low, the price recovered about 14.5%. In March, Tokenomics 3.0 went live. Among other things, the maximum annual inflation was lowered from 7% to 5.5%, and dApp Staking was adjusted.
  • Q2 2026 - Price range: €0,0042856 - €0,0083006
    ASTR started the quarter around €0,006287 and rose in May to about €0,0083006. After that, the price fell back and reached a low around €0,0042856 in June. By the end of June, ASTR was around €0,0044433, about 29.3% lower than at the start of the quarter. During this period, Astar continued working on Tokenomics 3.0 and adjustments to dApp Staking.
  • Q3 2026 - Price range: €0,0037898 - €0,0054839
    The quarter started around €0,0052038, and ASTR briefly rose on July 1 to about €0,0054839. In August, the price fell to about €0,0037898, after which it recovered to about €0,004671 in early September. That put the price about 10.2% lower than at the start of the quarter, but about 23.3% higher than the August low. During the same period, Astar worked on migrating existing WASM smart contracts as preparation for possibly ending support for these contracts.

Upcoming Technical Updates


  • WASM smart contracts (ink!) sunset - Expected from September 2026 - Since June 15, 2026, no new WASM smart contracts can be added on Astar, and existing contracts can no longer be updated. These contracts are built with ink!, a framework for WASM smart contracts. For existing applications, there is a migration period of about 90 days, which ends around September 10. After that, the related WASM dApps will be removed from dApp Staking, and the community can vote on removing `pallet_contracts`, the part of Astar that runs these smart contracts. If that proposal is approved and carried out, Astar will stop supporting these WASM smart contracts, and remaining applications will need to switch to EVM contracts, for example.
